01Who operates GuildPay
Andrew Cook (sole trader), trading as GuildPay, operates this service from the United Kingdom.
Support and general enquiries: [email protected].
“We”, “us” and “our” mean the operator above. “You” means a visitor, buyer, server administrator or developer using GuildPay. A “seller” means the person or organisation offering a community plan. A server name or Discord account name is not necessarily a seller’s legal name.
These terms apply to the GuildPay website, storefronts, Discord sign-in, plan management, connected provider tools, REST API and outgoing webhooks. The Privacy policy explains personal data processing; reading or accepting these terms is not consent to every use of personal data.
02What GuildPay provides
GuildPay lets sellers create and group plans, design public storefronts, connect payout accounts and coordinate hosted checkouts. Developers can create checkout links and obtain customer, payment and subscription information through authorised API access and signed webhooks.
GuildPay supplies these platform tools. The seller supplies the benefits advertised in a plan, such as access to their community, bot or software. A purchase creates a separate agreement between the buyer and that seller. The seller’s lawful terms apply to their benefits and must be supplied before purchase. They cannot remove a buyer’s mandatory legal rights.
Payments are processed through the seller’s connected Stripe or PayPal account. GuildPay collects its disclosed commission through the provider and does not operate a buyer wallet or hold sellers’ sale proceeds as a stored balance. Providers control processing, verification, settlement, reserves and disputes under their own agreements. Stripe supports recurring and one-time checkout; PayPal checkout currently supports one-time purchases.
GuildPay does not automatically deliver Discord roles, messages or community benefits. Sellers and their developers operate those integrations. Discord, Stripe and PayPal are separate services; GuildPay is not endorsed by them. This description does not exclude GuildPay’s responsibility for its own service or legal obligations.
03Eligibility and account access
Server administrators and developers must be at least 18 and have authority to manage the relevant server, connect its payment account and bind any organisation they represent. Buyers must be at least 13, meet Discord’s and the payment provider’s applicable age requirements, and have a parent or guardian’s permission where required. A parent or guardian must authorise use of their payment method. Do not use someone else’s payment details without permission.
Discord authentication is required for purchases started on a GuildPay storefront. A checkout started by a developer’s bot or website may instead use the customer identifier supplied by that developer. Sellers must identify their customers lawfully and accurately and provide any required notices.
Keep your Discord account, connected provider account, API keys and webhook secrets secure. Notify us promptly if access is compromised. Server management permissions control workspace access; changes to those permissions can change who can manage the server’s GuildPay settings.
We may decline accounts or transactions where required by law, provider restrictions, sanctions, fraud controls or these terms. Availability depends on the country, currency and capabilities supported by the connected provider.
04Responsibilities of sellers
Sellers are responsible for the legality, accuracy and delivery of their plans and benefits. Before a buyer orders, make your legal identity, geographical contact address, working contact details, any trader status, total price and applicable taxes, billing period, delivery arrangements, cancellation process and refund information clear and accessible. Provide purchase terms and confirmations in a form the buyer can keep.
Publish only benefits you can supply and have the necessary rights to offer. Explain limitations, prerequisites, inventory restrictions, one-per-customer rules and any restriction to one plan in a group. Do not describe a recurring payment as a one-time payment or imply that a plan includes benefits it does not provide.
Maintain any registrations, tax obligations and provider permissions that apply to your business. Complete onboarding and verification truthfully. Connected account approval does not guarantee that every activity, payment method or country is permitted.
Handle buyer support and refund requests fairly. Keep fulfilment and customer records sufficient to explain what was purchased and delivered. Do not sell unlawful content, scams, stolen goods or credentials, infringing content, or products or services prohibited by applicable law, Discord or the connected provider. Do not use GuildPay for money laundering, unauthorised financial services or to misrepresent the recipient of a payment.
05Prices, commission and platform plans
The price and billing schedule selected for a community plan apply to that purchase. Check the currency and total shown at checkout before authorising payment. Sellers must include or disclose applicable taxes as required by law. Provider processing fees, currency conversion, disputes and other provider charges are separate from GuildPay’s commission.
GuildPay’s commission depends on the server’s platform tier. Current rates, included configuration limits and premium prices appear on the Pricing page and in the workspace. Commission is charged through the provider on eligible payments. A seller must account for these fees when setting a price.
Changes to platform fees apply prospectively after clear notice; we do not retrospectively increase fees on completed payments. A change to public pricing does not by itself authorise changing an existing recurring subscription’s price.
Refund treatment of provider fees and commissions depends on the applicable provider rules and the refund arrangement disclosed to the seller. These fees do not reduce a buyer’s statutory refund entitlement.
07Purchases and recurring subscriptions
A recurring plan authorises repeated charges at the selected frequency and interval until the subscription is ended. For example, a monthly frequency with an interval of three means a charge every three months. A one-time plan charges once and does not automatically renew.
Payment must be confirmed by the provider before GuildPay records a successful purchase. A redirect or checkout success message alone is not proof that a payment has settled. Pending payments, delayed provider notifications, failed payments, refunds or disputes can affect the recorded status and the seller’s delivery of access.
For subscription changes or cancellation, contact the seller using the contact route supplied for the plan. A seller may also provide a provider billing portal. GuildPay can help identify a payment or direct a technical payment issue; contact [email protected] if you cannot reach the seller. An ordinary end-of-period cancellation stops later renewals and normally preserves access through the paid period, subject to lawful purchase terms. Statutory cancellation and refund rights are separate.
Recurring prices cannot be edited in GuildPay while the plan has existing recurring subscribers. Sellers must create another plan to offer a different recurring price. One-time prices can be changed for future purchases. Changing a listing does not rewrite a completed purchase.
08Cancellation rights, refunds and complaints
Start a request about plan benefits, ordinary cancellation or a refund with the seller. GuildPay assists with platform and payment issues and remains responsible for its own obligations. A seller’s refund policy cannot override rights provided by law.
For UK consumers, online purchases of services or digital content generally have a 14-day cancellation period, subject to the applicable legal exceptions. For a service or digital content contract, that period generally starts when the contract is made. Rights can last longer if legally required cancellation information was not supplied.
Starting a service during that period requires your express request where the law requires it. If you cancel before full performance, a lawful proportionate charge for work already supplied may apply only where the required information and request were provided. Loss of the right to cancel a fully performed service has additional conditions. For digital content not supplied on a physical medium, early supply has a separate express consent and acknowledgement process. Accepting general terms or simply obtaining access is not a blanket waiver of your cancellation rights.
You also retain remedies where services are not supplied with reasonable care and skill, or digital content is faulty, not as described or otherwise fails legal requirements. Sellers must assess requests according to what they supplied and the law that applies. A recurring membership must not automatically be treated as a completed digital download.
To exercise a statutory cancellation right, send the seller a clear statement identifying you, the plan or order, the date of purchase and your wish to cancel. You can use this wording: “I give notice that I cancel my contract for [plan], ordered on [date]. My name and contact details are [details], and my order reference is [reference].” This wording is optional. Where required, the seller must also provide the applicable standard cancellation form.
For a complaint about GuildPay itself, email [email protected] with the relevant server, plan and transaction reference. Do not send card numbers, bank credentials or API secrets. We will consider the complaint fairly and explain the outcome. These terms do not prevent you from using provider dispute procedures or legal remedies.
09Unpublishing, deletion and existing access
Unpublishing stops new purchases. Before unpublishing, a seller chooses whether existing recurring subscriptions should continue, have future payment collection paused, or cancel at the end of the paid period. A plan must be unpublished before it can be deleted.
Pausing collection does not automatically end access, refund previous payments or stop every already-due invoice. Cancellation at period end does not normally refund earlier payments. One-time purchases are not automatically cancelled by these actions. Sellers remain responsible for benefits already sold and for any remedy required by law.
Deleting a plan removes its listing but preserves relevant purchase, subscription and payment history. Republishing does not automatically resume paused collection or reverse earlier cancellation instructions. Provider outages can delay processing; sellers should check the result before promising that billing has stopped.
Limited inventory is released when the corresponding access ends. Enabling a group restriction does not automatically cancel existing memberships or migrate a buyer between tiers.
10Developer API and webhook use
API keys are scoped to a server and permissions. Use the minimum access your integration needs and keep credentials on your server. Do not put API keys in public browser code, URLs, public repositories or customer messages. Verify webhook signatures, protect signing secrets and revoke compromised credentials promptly.
Payment and subscription notifications may be retried, delayed, duplicated or delivered out of order. Make your processing idempotent and reconcile current records through the API where necessary. A checkout link, browser callback or webhook test is not proof of a real payment. Your integration is responsible for deciding when and how to deliver its benefits.
Supply accurate customer references and only metadata needed for the purchase. Do not submit passwords, payment card data, identity documents, health information or other sensitive personal data as metadata. Provide appropriate privacy information and a lawful basis for customer data you collect or receive. Use received information only for lawful purposes connected with your customer relationship.
Do not bypass authentication, rate limits, plan restrictions or inventory checks, probe other servers’ data, or use the API to spam or attack another service. We may apply reasonable limits to protect availability. Material API changes will be communicated where practicable; preview or development features may change. We do not promise unlimited capacity, perfect delivery or a particular service level unless separately agreed.
Where the nature of an integration makes GuildPay a processor acting solely on your instructions, the required data-processing contract must be agreed before that processing begins. These general terms do not replace the specific provisions required by UK GDPR Article 28.
11Content and intellectual property
You retain ownership of your own content. You grant GuildPay a non-exclusive licence to store, reproduce, display and transmit content only as needed to operate the service, publish the storefront you configure, and maintain necessary backups. You must have the rights to upload and publish that content.
Storefront text, plan descriptions and uploaded images are public when displayed. Do not upload confidential information or personal images without authority. External image URLs cause visitors’ browsers to contact that image host; sellers must choose lawful and appropriate hosts.
GuildPay’s own branding, software and site content remain the property of their respective rights holders. Use the service and documented API as permitted by these terms. Report unlawful or infringing content to [email protected] with enough information for us to locate it.
12Availability, suspension and ending use
We aim to operate GuildPay reliably but maintenance, security incidents and third-party outages can interrupt it. Features depend on Discord and payment providers remaining available and on the seller maintaining their account.
We may restrict access, a listing or an integration where reasonably necessary to address a material breach, suspected fraud, unlawful activity, compromised credentials, provider requirements or threats to the service. When lawful and practicable, we will explain the reason and give an opportunity to resolve it. Urgent protective action may happen first. Contact support if you believe a restriction is mistaken.
You may stop using GuildPay and ask support about account closure or data deletion. Logging out, removing the bot, revoking an API key or deleting a listing does not by itself cancel every provider subscription or erase purchase records. Sellers must arrange lawful cancellation, ongoing benefit delivery and customer communications before leaving.
Ending platform access does not remove accrued payment obligations, customer remedies or justified retention of records. We may retain or disclose records where needed for legal obligations, disputes or security, as explained in the Privacy policy.
13Responsibility and liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
If you are a consumer: GuildPay remains responsible for reasonably foreseeable loss caused by its breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude responsibility simply because another service is involved. A seller remains responsible for its own advertised benefits, and payment providers remain responsible under their applicable agreements and the law.
If you use GuildPay for business purposes: subject to the exclusions above, GuildPay is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or lost profits, business opportunity or anticipated savings. GuildPay’s total liability arising from its platform service in a twelve-month period is limited to the greater of £1,000 or the platform fees and commission you paid to GuildPay during that period, to the extent such a limitation is lawful and reasonable. Amounts legally owed as customer refunds are not reduced by this business limitation.
You remain responsible for your own unlawful conduct, breaches and integration failures. These terms do not impose an unlimited consumer indemnity or transfer GuildPay’s own legal responsibilities to you.
14Changes to the service or terms
We may update these terms for changes in the service, applicable law, provider requirements or security needs. The updated version and effective date will be shown here. Material changes will be notified through the service or an available contact route with reasonable advance notice where possible. Changes will not retrospectively remove rights arising from an earlier purchase.
If a change materially disadvantages you, you may stop using the affected service and contact us about any rights to end a paid platform agreement. Mandatory rights continue to apply. Separately agreed written terms take priority for the specific subject they cover. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue so far as lawful.
15Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Business disputes are subject to the courts of that jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not remove mandatory protections under the law of your place of residence or any right to bring proceedings in a court available to you under applicable law.
Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a problem: [email protected]. You are not required to give up statutory complaint, cancellation or court rights in order to use GuildPay.
